All banks will have the facility to download a statement when internet banking. You can usually choose from a number of formats. For spreadsheets use choose .csv format, which is usually the default choice. However, other formats may be available, such as .qif often used for accounting database software. This guide has images from ANZ banking. Other banks will be similar.
When internet banking and viewing transactions online look for the "Export" button. Click on this button to access an electronic statement.
When export button is clicked, an "Export Transactions" dialogue will open. Here the statement period and export file type can be selected. The default time period is 30 days, the default file format is CSV. It is better to modify the statement period to overlap by a day or so the month required. The CSV file format stays as required. When set up click on "Export" button.
Next step depends on the the set up of your browser. If set to save downloads to a particular directory the downloaded file will appear in your "Downloads" directory. Otherwise you may be asked whether to save or open the download file. In either case the choice is yours.
